Tuesday morning. Just another normal morning at the KSLQ studios. At least that’s what the staff thought.
Security was tight as usual. Everyone had their ID tags on. All staff had been cleared through the metal detectors by the RSA (Radio Security Administration) team.
The women were all in compliance with the new NFL stadium rules and only had a small clutch purse with them. All of the male staffers had removed their fanny packs before they entered the studio area, also in full compliance with the new NFL rules. But an interloper was lurking in the hallways that lead to the studios. It would be shortly after 7 AM when the gravity of the situation would become apparent.
The intruder bravely walked down the hallway and tried to enter the KSLQ studio. Brad Hildebrand, who was on the air at the time, picked up the intruder on the video surveillance system. The CAS system was activated. The studio complex went into lock down mode.
The call went out for the only person who could stop the invasion. Dan Crider. Dan arrived at the studios in minutes, removed his fanny pack for NFL compliance, and went to work on cornering the intruder. What seemed liked hours took only a few minutes until the intruder was cornered in the KWMO studios.
At first the intruder tried to play possum with Dan by freezing in a corner of the studio. But then the intruder made a run for it and tried to get onto the microphone (literally) and call for help from his posse (or was it his passel?). But Dan chased him down off of the microphone.
The intruder had a brief fight with a mouse (computer variety), but then tried to run from the studio.
Dan grabbed the the intruder by the tail (literally) with his specially designed equipment and escorted the intruder out of the studio complex and through the high-security rear studio entrance.
The intruder was released and told to never come back. The intruder promptly ran back into the basement of the studio complex. So much for being Mr. Nice Guy.
The next time we won’t be so nice to this intruder. The next time it’s Guantanamo Bay. Or maybe Warrenton!
Thanks to Dan Crider at D and R Pest Control for his heroism. You can get a first hand account of the attack by calling Dan at 636-239-4998
